The Docken Leaf Beetle

…aka Gastrophysa viridula

When I was wee, these were the most precious of all beetle-y finds.

Crawling all over docken leaves, laying small daffodil-yellow eggs, hatching into strange black armoured beasties

It felt like I hadn’t seen one for years when I spotted this chap on the front doorstep of my parents’ home, but then again, maybe I just hadn’t been looking…
